Either play as or escape from various killers including killers from famous 70s and 80s slasher movie killers such as Micheal Myers or Freddy Krueger.

The killers used from these Licenses have had their methods of killing in the movie adapted for the game. For example Michael Myers gets stronger by stalking the survivors before trying to kill them.

Friday the 13th: The game. Friday the 13th only has one available killer while Dead by Daylight has many, and the dynamics of escaping and hiding from the killer are very different. In Friday the 13th through effort Jason can be killed while the killers in dead by daylight cannot be.

- Tension as the survivor of trying to get your objective done without being killed by the killer, and Tension as the killer to try and juggle four survivors and kill them before they get their objective done.
- Feeling of cleverness for outsmarting the killer to live longer or outsmarting the survivors to kill them faster.
Characters
Different killer have different abilities of various complexity to help them catch and kill survivors which you can choose depending on what play style you want and how comfortable you are with playing as the killer. While there is a cast of survivors available to play as there is no mechanical difference between them other than the male survivors tend to be larger in stature and thus slightly harder to hide.
- Trapper has bear traps that he can place and if survivors step in them, they get stuck in place for a short time and become injured
- Wraith ring his bell to become transparent, remove his terror radius, and increase his movement speed, but he cannot injure survivors in this state and must spend a few seconds ringing his bell again.
- Spirit after a short channel can turn completely invisible, remove her terror radius, and greatly improve movement speed for a short time, and can instantly leave this state to injure survivors, but during this time survivors are also invisible to her, and must be tracked solely through sound.
- The Demogorgon can leap forward several meters at nearly a moments notice at the penalty of a short stun if you miss, and can also place points around the map that it can teleport to, but the survivors can spend time and destroy these teleport points. etc...
